I have existed longer than your memories.

I have worn many forms -

fish in the water,

bird in the sky,

worm beneath the earth.

But I learned something about humans.

You fear what lives outside.

Yet you sleep peacefully

knowing something might live inside your closet.

That is why I stayed.
